Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Successful candidate will possess the competence and skill level to execute various duties in the following areas of the Human Resources function:  

 

Risk Management:  Assists with managing the Agency’s Worker’s Compensation, Liability and Fleet Damage programs to include claims management and leave tracking.

 

Leave Administration: Oversees and administers all Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave requests and workplace accommodations. Ensures FMLA leaves are processed in accordance with applicable legal requirements and provides necessary support to employees during their leaves as well as assist with their transition back to the workplace.   

 

Agency Volunteers:  Onboards all Agency volunteers.  Creates files for all volunteers and ensure rosters are always updated and current.  Engage with Hiring Managers on volunteer needs and ensure volunteers are acclimated to the Agency in a positive way.

 

  • Responds to and completes all employment verifications and Public Records requests as necessary and in accordance with the Florida Sunshine Law;
  • Updates employee personal information changes in the various employee management systems;
  • Assists with the hiring and onboarding process;
  • Processes human resources transactions, implement program and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, state and local regulations, guidelines, and policies;
  • Administers and maintains employee databases and generates human resources related reports utilizing employee management programs and/or other software or systems designated;
  • Responds to and completes employment verifications and Public Records requests as necessary;
  • Conducts new employee orientation in conjunction with the HR Team;
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of human resources policy, programs and procedures; provides employee guidance, assistance and follow-up on policies, procedures, and documentation;
  • Creates, edits and maintains job descriptions as needed. Conducts job analysis when required;
  • Assists with special projects in the department as requested;
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Selection Criteria:

  • Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma recognized by the State of Florida; AND EITHER
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field AND one (1) year of experience in Human Resources; OR
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field AND three (3) years of experience in Human Resources; OR
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Human Resources (preferably in Public Sector)
  • Must have valid Florida Driver’s License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective communication skills to respond to agency personnel to answer their HR questions/inquiries;
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics, prepare reports, and present recommendations;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook software programs;
  • Ability to research, write, present, analyze, and problem solve effectively;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Strong time management skills;
  • Strict attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
