The Opportunity
The Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners invites applications for its next County Administrator. This is an opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking professional to guide a growing rural county, balancing responsible resource stewardship with strategic investment in economic development and infrastructure. Reporting directly to the five-member elected Board, the Administrator oversees all county departments and services, provides professional policy advice, and represents the County to regional, state, and federal partners.
The Ideal Candidate
The Board is seeking a dynamic, community-oriented leader and communicator who is community-oriented, visible, and collaborative. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A proven track record in budget management, capital projects, grant acquisition, and economic development.
- The ability to maximize limited resources and secure outside funding to advance county priorities.
- Strong skills in project management, intergovernmental relations, and public engagement.
- Strategic vision, decisiveness, and transparent leadership.
- A commitment to community visibility through participation in civic and public events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field is preferred.
- It is preferred that qualified candidates have at least five years of progressively responsible management in local government administration, or equivalent leadership in the public/private sector.
- Experience as a County Administrator, Assistant/Deputy Administrator, Department Director, or Finance Director strongly preferred.
- Rural or small-county management experience is desirable.
- ICMA Credentialed Manager status is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $120,000 – $140,000, depending on qualifications, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
